If

If love could save you
I'd chase it, bottle it and
leave it on your doorstep
I'd suffer any indignation
offer up my respect
hand you the darts
and smile all the same
as you threw them at my heart
If love could save you
I'd never leave your side
I'd lay silent at your insulting
words and pretend I have no pride
I'd be the pawn you seek to own
and freeze happily in your wild stare
If love could save you
I'd count the years, the days, the hours
until I would find you well
it would make the torture bareable
and all the pain worthwhile
If only love could save you

Noelle, I always love your writings, the forlorn pain of your pen.

Love can save us from the depths of our discouraged heart, or it can create a debilitating paralysis of the soul. Sometimes it’s hard just to find that solid ground, all we can do is just try to heal from it all.

awe this is something. this is pretty sweet. i really like this, it reminds me of me when i used to let men use me thinking it would change or save them.

I so hope this is only writing and not how you truly feel. This is so sad.

contains exaggerated truth but I was really just addressing the thought or idea that, no - we really can't save other people, they have to be sincere and willing to save themselves and if so, love from others would be the right thing...I think in general people think they can change a lot of things they have no control over.

Your words are so haunting at times yet so true to life..

Noelle- so, self sacrifice? Does the sayer have need of nothing in return save the satisfaction of pleasing another? the speaker never actually says they would love the other, just lists things they would do that may be love or simply a job. And to not ask for it in return. hmm. a curious affair. Lovely writing. ~rick

Noelle, Thanks for stopping by. I like your poetry. There are many times when I think that love can save me--if I love myself.

The love I finally found for myself saved me from the "you just don't love me enough" love sustaining my other...no more drunken rants until 3am, nothing like a safe nights sleep! Amen.
