As I sit editing my next book, I find myself at a loss for words...baffled...bewildered. It has nothing to do with the content of my book though. I find myself in near tears as I read the stories of many courageous women, who willingly and purposefully decided to share their journey with me. Their stories of strength and hope stand to raise awareness, compassion and hopefully A LOT more research. For centuries women have suffered with an incurable illness, Endometriosis...in silence and in shame. Finally, finally, finally when this disease is getting a little more attention and finally being taken more seriously by the medical community and media.... I stumble across this story on the Fox News website. Now, don't get me wrong here...just seeing the words Endometriosis pop up on any news site is a step in the right direction but I just wish, for the sake of credibility, that research was actually being put forth that would be a bigger step in terms of the cure and management of the disease. They lean towards the speculation that "the genes that interact with hormones that produce a more feminine appearance may also predispose women to severe Endometriosis."
