How do you get past writer's block?
I had this conversation today with a very talented musician friend. I feel like we all experience it for short periods or even long periods of time. So many factors come in to play and sometimes it is hard to pin point. My writing usually comes from a very deep place and to really release it I need freedom. When I say freedom, I mean freedom from internal and external noise. I have to find a way to quiet my the noise - external easy ..internal - not so easy. I meditate often and read Stillness Speaks (I may have mentioned this book before) also, The Power of Now. These books really are so powerful for me. Many thanks to aforementioned musician because he introduced those books to me. Anyway, these books really guide you through catching the noise and negative thoughts in your head. If you're like me, and I find many creative people are....our thoughts keep going and going and going - IF we let them. So, aside from these books exercise always helps me clear my mind AND laughter. Laughter has saved me again, and again and again. Helping others and connecting with others is key as well. So these are the things that clear the slate of my mind. I'm interested, how do you wipe your slate clean and open the door for your creativity?
